knitting goodness
okay, i mentioned on my personal lj that i'd been knitting, and promised to post some pics. so here they are:

Twink's gauntlets Twink's gauntlets
fingerless mittens, adapted from a pattern in a book i own. the first thing i ever knit in the round.

y'know, the little tree spirits from princess mononoke...

the first thing i put cables on! this is intended to replace the Pink Horror (TM) from PetSmart that's beginning to fall apart.

Bunny's Ostara sweater in progress Bunny's Ostara sweater in progress
started out as a scarf, but i quickly realized i didn't have enough yarn. so it's going to be another puppy sweater.
Sue's scarf in progress Sue's scarf in progress
i had intended this to be a birthday present, then sue decided she wasn't having a birthday this year. so when i finish it, i guess it'll be a "just because it's thursday" present.

finished the toe, foot, and heel on sock #1! this is based on a toe-up sock pattern i found online with a short row heel, modified to (eventually) become a knee-high pair of socks to fit over my (sizeable) calves.
TwiNk's camera case, closed TwiNk's camera case, closed
my first nearly-finished project in doubleknit. all i have to do is attach d-rings to the bag and clips to the ends of the strap, and it's done.

here you can see the ribbing at the top opening, which will help to hold things inside the bag.

doubleknit with patterning can be a somewhat fiddly and tedious thing. but i love him, so i'm going to finish this - and it's going to be awesome.

the beauty of doubleknit is that the pattern is the same on the back, yet you only have to knit it once!

trying to get a good shot of the stitch pattern here, and only encountering fail. harlequin shapes in stockinette and reverse stockinette, which have a somewhat ripply effect in the finished fabric.

started this a while back, on hold for now while i do some other things.

i'm TwiNkQ on ravelry, if you care to look me up there.

oh - and yes, i will take commissions for hand knits, but keep in mind that they *do* take a significant amount of time.

ah, crochet. where somehow a single loop at a time on a tiny hook manages to produce a fabric. never did understand it, though i watched my mom crochet afghans for hours. i'll stick with my pointy things for now, i believe.

though crochet does look like a fun thing to learn...
